​There are three ways to submit artwork, depending on who you are. Please choose the route that applies to you

Adults (18+)

Adults submitting their own artwork you’ll be asked to upload your image and provide a contact email so we can reach you if your work is shortlisted —please use the Adult Submission button.

​​​Under‑18s — Submitted by a Parent or Guardian

​Children cannot submit work themselves. A parent or guardian must complete the form on their behalf. To protect young artists, we generate an Artist Code so no personal details of the child appear anywhere publicly. —please use the U18 Submission button below.

​​Teachers — Multiple Pupil Entries

​For schools and those submitting several artworks, we have a dedicated teacher route.

We will reply with a secure upload link where you can:

​

• drop all pupil artwork images

• complete the simple template (artwork title and other optional info)

To fully comply with GDPR, no pupil personal data is required — only the teacher’s contact details.

Submission Guidelines

(for all entries)

​

To help us judge your work fairly, please follow these simple guidelines when submitting your image:

​

Photographing your artwork

​

• Take the photo in good natural light (near a window is ideal).

• Place the artwork on a flat surface or hang it straight on a wall.

• Hold the camera directly in front of the piece to avoid distortion.

• Make sure the whole artwork is visible and crop out the background if possible.

• Avoid strong shadows, reflections, or filters.

​

3D work (sculpture, models, textiles, ceramics)

​

• Photograph from straight on, plus one or two angles if needed.

• Use a plain background (white sheet, wall, or table).

• Make sure the piece is well lit so details are clear.

​

File types & size

​

• Accepted formats: JPG, PNG, HEIC

• Aim for a file size between 1–10MB

• Minimum resolution: 1200px on the shortest side

• Please do not upload PDFs, Word documents, or screenshots.

General tips

​

• Check the image is sharp and in focus before uploading.

• If your artwork includes text, make sure it’s readable.

• One artwork = one upload.

Judging Criteria

​

Our judging panel looks at each artwork using three simple criteria:

​

​

Expression

Voice, imagination, feeling.

How the artist communicates an idea, emotion, or personal viewpoint.

​

Craft

Care, choices, techniques.

How well the materials are used, the composition, and the overall execution.

​

Connection

People, place, experience.

How the artwork relates to Aylesham, community, or lived experience.

These criteria help us celebrate a wide range of styles, ages, and approaches.

Judging Process

​

All entries are reviewed anonymously by our judging panel, which includes local artists, community representatives and people connected to Aylesham’s creative life.

 

Each judge focuses on one of the three criteria — Expression, Craft and Connection — and scores the work independently before the panel meets to discuss the shortlist.

​

The panel then selects the final artworks for the 2027 Centenary calendar and which works will be exhibited at the Grand Centenary Art Exhibition. They will be ensuring a balanced mix of ages, styles and interpretations of Aylesham. No personal details are shared with judges at any stage.

Legals

​

By submitting artwork to the Love Aylesham 2026 project, you confirm that the work is your own original creation and that you have the right to share it.

For under‑18 entries, the submission must be made by a parent, guardian or teacher acting with parental consent.

​

You grant Art Space Kent permission to display the submitted image online, in print and in the 2026 Aylesham Calendar if selected. All copyright remains with the artist. Images may be lightly cropped or adjusted for print layout, but no creative changes will be made.

 

You may request to have your work removed from the competition at any time. If your artwork is selected for the calendar, you’ll be asked to complete a short additional agreement confirming permission for print and distribution; once the calendar has gone to print, selected images cannot be withdrawn

 

Personal information is used only for administering the competition and will not be shared with third parties. Judging is carried out anonymously. For safeguarding, no identifying details of children will appear alongside their artwork.
